The fancy, posh, hip word for taco is "wrap." Oh how that irks me. I see people ordering "wraps" and think...that's a fucking Taco, you idiot. Some of them look like small burritos though, still....why the gay name? It's stupid.
Today the project manager treated us to "Mexican" food. I dunno what restaurant it was, prolly some big place like Lalo's or something. Still....I think...is it really authentic when it's obvious that the restaurant uses store bought tortillas de harina? I hate those...the preservatives in those harinas are overpowering. Kinda like when you eat home-made soup all your life and then switch to canned soup. BLECH! It makes me sad deep in my heart to think that most non-hispanic people will never know what a true home-made tortilla de harina tastes like. :( I also noticed that the beef tacos were really....ground beef tacos!!!! Now that is BLASPHEMY!!! Tacos made of carne molida is just damn sickening....sorry, a proper taco should be made with carnitas, not carne molida! Tacos aren't hamburgers...for the love of all that is holy.
Now, as I'm setting my plate down on my desk, one of my co-worker's remarks that he likes hardshell tacos better. I smile politely on the outside...but on the inside...he disgusted me. Hardshell tacos???? What is that? A hard tortilla is a tostada, and it is flat! Imagine, taking a box of hardshell tacos to Mexico...my cousins would not know what to do with them, they'd prolly laugh and say that I bought the faulty tostadas at a discount.
