My mother said that his claws were pretty long "Es capas de romperte las venas con sus garas!" I told her Kirby, my guinea pig was very docile that if I bathed him, he would prolly do no more than squeal. "Pero, es un animal, los animales saben como defenderse!!!" Still, she was adamant about me not bathing him, fearing that in a rabid attempt to get away, he would claw at my arms and rip out my veins, leaving me dead in a blood spattered bathroom. This didn't keep me from bathing him sooner though, what did keep me from that was what the vet said. He said that guinea pigs get frightened easily, and some have been known to just die. I didn't want him to die of shock or anything. Still, I decided it's the dander that I'm allergic to, and since my kiddie's science teacher doesn't want him, I have to bathe him and maybe then I can stand to go near him without having a fit of allergic reactions.
So, I got an old towel, held him and began to bathe him. He was so docile and still, either he loved it or was so terrified, he didn't know how to react because he just stood still and peed on my arm. Meanwhile, snot was gushing out of my nose, I was sneezing constantly and my hands and arms broke out in hives. But, the bath was a success, my guinea pig did not kill me. My mom should be happy to know that my "marrano" as she so sweetly calls him, did not mutilate me.
His fur is really fluffy now, and he began to scamper about when he was dry enough to be put back in his cage. I hope that helps my allergies, although I'm not sure because I'm still congested from the reaction I had yesterday. I'll know by the end of the week.
